Brian and I were recently made the Cubmasters, and in charge of the very same thing. I wish I could say we have some GREAT ideas, but we've only done one!! Round table is great, though. You get everything, and tons of ideas every month!

Bryce's advice, MOVE or make sure your wife is your partner in the calling and that you have to work everynight there is a scout activity. When I was in primary I joined a yahoo primary group and got lots of great ideas. I would go to the classic primary websites like sugardoodle too. Pray for help! :)

Thanks for the help! Dan has covered the working every night there is a pack meeting. This is why I am stressed. That and the fact that I am the Primary President and I get the phone calls if someone is not happy...I will check sugardoodle, and I will see if I can receive any divine inspiration!!

HI Megan,

I saw your little shoot out for help and I could not help but chuckle because I had just come home from P.M. I am in scouts and have been for 2 1/2 plus. Our pack meetings are great, but way to long. 45mins to an hr are plenty. Get the boys involved. Have the different dens bring things to display that they have been working out throughout the month. Go to round tables. They are very good. Not that I go, but I have been and our cubmaster goes every month. We do an opening activity while we are waiting for the boys and families to show up. Something that has to do the theme. I not sure where our cubmaster gets all his info, but I will find out for you. Bryce has been the cubmaster before and he always kept it simple. Have guest speakers when possible. Our boys do really good when we have guests. One time the theme was on animals or something to do with animals and we invited my brother Brett who is a vet to some speak and the boys loved that because it was out of the ordinary. For this month the boys dressed up as their favorite storybook character. He always gives awards in a creative way. One time the awards came out on a little train, this time the boys had to unscramble the boys names that were get the awards. Megan I could go on and on and if you want to know more let me know and I could email you some more ideas. I can be a tough calling I know. I will let you know where he gets all his info for sure. Sorry this is so long. Hope it makes sense to you.

Just read your post. Give me a day or two and I will share what we have planned for the year. We met last month and planned the whole year of pack nights. They may not interest you though. I'm just a den leader and am hoping to be released soon.

Thanks Emily and Kristi for the ideas and help!! If you want to email me your thought and ideas. here is my email: megguymon@aol.com Or you can leave it here. I am just glad for the ideas!

I know most of our pack meetings were way too long and boring for the boys, so I told Dan to shorten it and jazz it up so it will be fun for the boys and not so tough on the families.

By the way Emily...it was good to hear from you. I do watch your blog...

Krisit, I understand you wanting to be released! I think that our ward has worn out our den leaders. It seems to happen way to fast and then it is extremely hard to fill the positions! Hope all is well with your Mom!

Megan
I talked to our cub master and he said that he gets alot of his ideas from "baloos bugle" google that and also cubmasters help book. If he doesn't have that you can probably get that at your scout office and I would have the church buy that and leave it with the scout stuff when he is done with the calling and gladly pass it on the next cubmaster. :) We always set down as all den leaders, committee chairperson, and cubmaster and plan the yr out in Sept. We do not have pack meeting in December (hectic month) or July (Cub Day Camp). We always meet once a month to help plan pack meeting and discuss our dens and any problems. You guys probably already do these things, but meeting the one time a month is very helpful.
Good luck, hopefully this will help him.

Wow, thanks alot Emily...this is a big help! I really don't think that our scouts are functioning that well. Hopefully within a few months it will be alittle better. Thanks again!

Okay, ya'll are scaring me. Please don't let me get called to scouts. Please don't let me get called to scouts with Bryce. Please don't let me get called to be the primary president and have Bryce be cubmaster! AAAAHHH! We are moving in December and I was just overwhelmed with anxiety wondering what our new callings might be...I am thinking I love teaching RS once a month...
