No pictures with this post...although if I had some they might make you laugh and me too in a few days anyway. Here is the story. About 5 years ago we got this dog, he is a yellow lab...we named hime Max. He was cute when he was little. We thought oh every boy should have a dog. Then he got big and very naughty. He loves to run away from home. He gave a new meaning to walk the dog. It is more like drag Dan or Megan or Ethan. So, as you may be able to tell, Max does not get out much. As soon as we open the door he bolts. Dan has a dog run for him so we tie him up and let him run the same path. Well, today Ethan fed Max like a good boy but didn't get the latch quite shut on the kennel. Pretty soon I hear Ethan yelling and a yellow bolt of dog running! Oh that dang dog...I think that is what I said! Dan is not home...he is at work 20 minutes away! So, I gather up my 9 year old who is in tears and my 2 1/2 year old who is confused at why I am yelling at her to hurry up and get in our old red truck and hurry down the road. Ethan knew right where to find him. His first stop just down the road. Unfortunately at the brown condos. So I peel in there and yep we see him. He is visiting a friend. A big black rot wiler. Great...now what I say. Ethan heads over to pull max back and the stupid rot wiler lunges for him. So here I am with my Addi and Ethan and can't get Max to come to us. Anyway, to shorten it up some, the owner of the rot came out and got Max for us. We had to literally drag him to the truck, all the while I am wanting to beat him. Once I got to the truck I remember that the tail gate is broken and only Dan knows how to get it down! Swear words again!! So after a few seconds of anger and thought, I hefted the 120 lb (at least... Dan doesn't think so, but I do) dog into the back of the truck. I told Ethan that if he ever ran away again while Dad wasn't home I was not going after him! Next week I will be scheduling a much need visit with the vet to take care of some business with Max. I feel a love hate relationship with Max right now. I hate when he runs away and that happens often. But I love how Ethan really does love him and Addi does too. Stupid dog!! Addi now calls Max stupid dog too. So much for teaching kind words to my kids! I think my blood pressure has come down some now and I have to focus on sharing time tomorrow!

I feel your pain. Our neighbor kids can catch Rocky better than I can and yes, the only time he gets loose is when Jim is gone too.
What a good mom won't do for her son and his %&#@ dog!
I was laughing at the thought of your story becaus I have been in the exact same spot so many times. We had a boxer named Sassy. We never should have named her that, because she exceeded the expectations of her name way too much. She could climb the chain link fence of the kennel. Up and over, and off she would go. We finally put up a roof on it. But I have had to pay the cops money to get her out of "jail" twice, and saw her get hit and broke two legs right in front of me. She made me so mad! Not too mention all the money I spent on her for her vet bills from her stupidity. No matter how mad I got at her, I still loved her. And she eventually got cancer and we had to put her to sleep. I cried and cried. Sorry for babbling, I just know exactly what you mean.
yeah, Max jumped or fell, no one really knows, out of a truck and broke his hip a few years ago. It was a horrible sight and so sad to see him like that. But we paid for him to be mended and he is going strong today. His hip does bother him if he runs and runs on it. But he can get pretty far before that happens! What a dog!
